The Young Leaders Summit (YLS) Application is Now Open! (deadline Friday, May 14, 2021)

 

The Young Leaders Summit (YLS), presented by the Youth Leadership Consortium (YLC), is a free, five-day, college empowerment conference for a diverse cohort of 200 low-income high school juniors, selected through a competitive application process. It is designed to give these young leaders the practical tools they need to successfully apply to top universities, have full access to scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and set a course for academic and career success.

The application deadline is Friday, May 14, 2021, 5:00 PM PT.

Due to COVID-19, YLS 2021 will be held virtually.

TAGT Student Summer Scholarship Applications Due March 31, 2021

TAGT Student Summer Scholarship Applications Due March 31! There is still time for your student/s to apply to one of the following 2021 scholarships: Summer Enrichment Scholarships Awarded to identified gifted students grades K-12, who are currently participating in a gifted program and who want to enrich their learning experience during the summer months. The maximum summer scholarship award is $400. Students may use these scholarships to attend programs with academic, fine art, or performing arts focus.  Education in Action's Lone Star Leadership Academy Camp Scholarship Travel to the Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio, or Houston/Galveston area to join delegations of other distinguished students from across Texas for a week of fun, learning, leadership development, and visits to significant Texas destinations. Participants must be in 4th-8th grade, nominated by an educator based on demonstrated leadership ability, maintain an 85 or higher average, and be involved in school/community activities. The top scoring student applying for a Summer Enrichment Scholarship attending the Lone Star Leadership Academy will receive a full scholarship to the program.  Laura Allard Future Vision Scholarship A $2,500 scholarship awarded to a graduating G/T high school senior who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, possesses a strong sense of purpose, clearly defined goals, and has a long-term plan for achieving these goals. Adelle McClendon Young Leader Scholarship A $2,500 scholarship awarded to a graduating G/T high school senior who has demonstrated outstanding leadership. Strength isn’t only about how fast you can run or how many push-ups you can do – it’s also about the strength inside of you.

YES2Best Youth Summit

The Yes2best Youth Summit is soon. Have you registered yet?

We invite our youth of ages 14 to 24 years to register to attend the free and virtual youth summit to be held on February 6th, 2021 from 10 am to 2:00 pm.

We will have entertainment, a special keynote speaker and giveaways. Did I say the Summit is free and virtual? You can join us from the comfort of your bedroom, your kitchen, living room and on the go. The Summit will be hosted on the Whova platform. Check it out here.

C-SPAN Student Cam 2021 - Documentary Contest

StudentCam is C-SPAN's annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and our nation.

This year students in grades 6-12 are asked to create a short (5-6 minute) video documentary on a topic related to the competition theme, "Explore the issue you most want the president and new Congress to address in 2021."

With cash prizes totaling $100,000 each year, C-SPAN awards prizes to the top 150 student documentaries, and over 50 teacher advisers. Since 2004, C-SPAN has awarded over $1 million dollars in cash prizes to past-winning students and teachers.

Students are asked to analyze the current and/or historical significance of their chosen issue, and include differing points of view.
