Breakthrough Austin Accepting Applications for Summer 2013

Breakthrough Austin, a tuition-free education program that strives to create first generation college graduates, is now accepting applications for new students. Each year the organization admits 60 high potential, low income, sixth graders and makes a commitment to help them get to and succeed in college. Rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders attend a rigorous, six-week academic summer program at The University of Texas at Austin.

During the school year, students attend Saturday workshops, receive individualized academic support and attend after school tutoring at the Breakthrough office. During their 8th grade year, Breakthrough helps students apply to rigorous public and private high schools in Austin. All Breakthrough programs are free to accepted students.
Breakthrough seeks highly motivated students to participate in three six-week summer programs before 7th, 8th and 9th grade. For students who attend school in Austin ISD, the application deadline is February 1, 2013.

Dates for 2013 Breakthrough Program for Middle School Students:

Summer Program: June 24 – August 2

Celebration: Saturday: August 3 (family and friends invited!)
School Year Program: 6 Saturday events, 3 parent meetings and ongoing homework help
